Bored of the same old, same old? These three pasta recipes will help you cook up something exciting for the family.

Do you love Italian food? Is spaghetti wrapped around your heart? If so, you have probably tried every recipe from here to Sicily to perfect your pasta creations. From amatriciana to macaroni, the modern pasta chef can create more than meets the eye. Try these pasta recipes for yourself.

Pasta Recipes that are a little bit different

These three past recipes should inspire you to create wonderful meals. The trick is to keep things playful. If you concern yourself with preconceived ideas – such as pasta being savory – then you won’t get to taste these awesome ideas.

Recipe 1 – Vodka Pasta

This vodka pasta recipe blows normal Italian food out of the water. It’s not quite spaghetti without red wine, so this recipe goes one step farther and adds the alcohol directly into the dish. Before you screw up your faces in disgust, though, when properly burned off in a dish, alcohol adds a fragrant, heady taste to your meal. Taste works in layers, and this recipe layers well.

Vodka pasta contains onions, shallots, garlic, chili – and only a single tablespoon of vodka. The recipe also uses full cream and chili flakes, so it is a little spicy.

Recipe 2 – Chocolate Pasta

Just when you thought that pasta was a main meal, you learn on the internet that people eat pasta as a sweet. The secret of Chocolate pasta is not to use real pasta at all. Rather, you form the noodles from flour and cocoa powder. You can decorate it with whipped cream, add a white chocolate sauce, or drizzle with caramel to finish it.

To Create Chocolate Pasta Noodles:

  • Take 1lb of all-purpose flour,
  • 2 cups of cocoa powder.
  • Milk or water

Mix the cocoa powder and the flour together in a bowl. Make a well in the center and pour 50ml of your chosen fluid into the well. Just like you make pasta by pouring the eggs into the center, you now work the flour over the water until you have a dough. You can use this dough in a regular pasta machine to make it thinner and thinner until you can cut it into spaghetti, linguine, or even make pasta shells with it.

Recipe 3 – Avocado Pasta

Avocado is such a big thing for Millennials that they started putting it into their pasta dishes. For this recipe, cook your pasta and set it aside. You can eat this dish hot or cold. If eating hot, make your sauce while your pasta cooks.

You will need:

  • 1 very ripe avocado peeled and stoned.
  • 25ml of olive oil
  • 25g of parmesan
  • 25g fresh basil
  • 25g cilantro (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • A squirt of lime juice
  • Seasoning

For the method, simply roughly chop your avocado until it is small enough to break down with a fork. Add all the ingredients together in a bowl. Remove your pasta and add it to the mix (because pasta goes into the sauce, not the other way around), and eat hot or cold as required.
